Women cosplaying is popular now due to: Internet, anime, easy learning curve, & women just <3 dressing up. Back in the 80′s with Dungeons and Dragons and still to this day, learning all the rules is way to intricate. Even I give up on D&D due to its complexity.

I love seeing this, and have been struggling with what to do as my first cosplay. I can’t sew for shit, but I can be damn resourceful when I need to be. And I’ve discovered the perfect 1st cosplay, I have no idea where I will wear it, but hey…Halloween is soon ^_^, my first cosplay is going to be Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet :) and I can’t wait LOL

There’s been such an upsurge in the hatred of so called “fake gamer girls” from fanboys that feel threatened to even famous comic book artists and writers that have said that these woman do this not for a passion of the fandom but for apparently the thrill of being a tease. It’s gross that people can’t handle women dressing up and interpret it only as something they do solely for other men. You won’t ever hear people criticizing fake gamer guys who don’t know canon and only watch the big movies.

We actually were the most local to the production that also had a large amount of experience and were most likely the easiest to find. I know I am very visible with my website/facebook/twitter.

Of course it would be awesome if they could be more in depth and include lots of different types of people. But a tiny video that was cut down to 7 minutes just can’t do that.

No one was chosen for sex appeal. Soulpancake is awesome and doesn’t operate like that. :)

@Ginny McQueen- absolutely not. It diminishes nothing. I merely thought the piece heavily spotlighted only the naturally gorgeous women who participate in the culture. I felt it gave an unbalanced view. And Cosplay (obviously) is not just for women. Yet this piece highlighted 3 very attractive women….and nothing else. So the theory could be presented that the subjects of the piece were chosen for their experience AND sex appeal

I love Cosplay but I’m still wondering why they picked some of the most attractive women in the game for this. Not to be harsh but most of the ladies who get deep into it are not nearly as naturally attractive as these women. They make Cosplay sexy and its not about that per se

38 and still love to dress up, even my horse loves to dress up! :D Not sure if I am a fullfledges geek, but I love anyone who dares to truly be themselves!

I am 43, I love the fact that people dress up in costume, But when I was younger I was made fun of for wearing my hand knit Doctor Who Scarf All the time. Now When I go to something not in costume I am called a mundane? Somehow I still am an outsider? I don’t get it.
